What to Eat or NOT to Eat

Grocery stores are like a carnival, especially the fancy food stores. Trader Joes, Central Market, Whole Foods, Sprouts and Jungle Jims are some of my favorites to explore.

As a new adult, I was excited to try out all the options given to me. Truly embracing my inner child. As you may know, that transformed me into an overweight sloth.

Now, after years of researching, reading and taking up Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) certification, I feel comfortable going into a grocery store to pick what I need and feel good about my choices.

Why Whole Foods?

We have been eating nutrient dense Whole Foods without processing for majority of the human evolution. Our bodies have adapted to process nutrient dense Whole Foods . The chemicals added to our processed food are sometimes toxic, and the nutrients from the food cannot be processed by the body effectively. Our human bodies are not programed to process man made chemicals yet ;)

Where to find Nutrient dense Whole Foods?

Any food that is available in the perimeter of most grocery store should do the trick. Fresh Vegetables, fruits, Dairy, Meat, and even frozen Whole Foods are good start. It is highly unlikely to change our food habits overnight but we can slowly transition into healthy food habits.

  1. Buy fresh Produce / Frozen

  2. Not everything needs to be Organic

  3. Read Ingredients

  4. Dairy is the Queen

  5. Be picky with your meat

See y’all next week for more on those :)

XOXO
